State-of-the-Art PCI in JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions
Treating coronary artery disease with PCI requires both precision and a deep understanding of the condition and intervention. The best operators combine experience with cutting-edge research data to achieve the best outcomes for their patients.
In recognition of his experience and contribution to research in the area, Dr Ryan was recently asked to write a State-of-the-Art review on how to perform PCI by the American College of Cardiology. The article focussed on patients with both coronary artery disease and heart failure. To develop the article, he led an international group including cardiologists from the UK, Canada, Sweden, Switzerland and the USA, including teams from Yale and Columbia universities. The article provides a point-by-point guide for cardiologists involved in the care of these patients. The article not only focussed on technical factors, but on supporting patients in making decisions on treatment, patient safety and best practice in care after the procedure.
The article was published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology: Cardiovascular Interventions. The paper was announced at the annual TransCatheter Therapeutics (TCT) meeting in San Francisco, USA. TCT is the largest interventional cardiology meeting in the USA . Over 5,000 cardiologists attend annually for continuous professional development.
